Description

Ferrari 250 TR bronze sculpture by Leo Bestgen (1940 – 2002) USA

A long time contributor to Road & Track magazine, Leo Bestgen illustrated many articles, he was also a great sculptor and had a whimsical style to his artwork. He created the 250 TR we are offering in the 1980’s. The sculpture is signed and numbered in an edition of 35 and was produced by Heritage Bronze Foundry in California. The subject does not need any introduction; this Ferrari was one of the most successful race car of the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans several years in a row as well as many other races. The famous pontoon fenders race car designed by Sergio Scaglietti is shown here in a 4-wheel drift with the driver hard at work (possibly Phil Hill as he was pretty friendly with Leo). Mounted on wooden base, 4.75” x 3.75” x 4.25”, A+ cond. Est. $500 – $700
